The 29th International Symposium on Translation and Interpretation Teaching invites scholars and professionals to explore how these challenges might impact industry practices and training processes. We welcome submissions that address topics relating to translation and interpretation – topics such as the practical experiences in translation and interpretation teaching, audiovisual and video game translations, new ways of understanding translation/interpretation, the role and value of trans-lators/interpreters, and other topics related to translation and interpreting. Join us in rethinking the future of trans-lation and interpretation in an AI-driven world.

　　How to achieve breakthroughs in translation and interpretation practices and training with the assistance of AI is one of the key topics of this symposium. In an era of technological advancements, the role of translators and interpreters is undergoing significant transformation. The development of AI technology is likely to have a profound effect on the field of interpreting and translation, similar to the impact that pho-tography had on painters in the 19th century. Photography, with its ability to capture reality with unparalleled clarity, forced artists to reimagine their methods of expression and explore new media. In the end, it changed and enriched the art of painting greatly. These changes ultimately led to a series of art movements, including Impressionism. Similarly, the advent of AI could have a positive impact on translation and inter-pretation.

　　In addition to the technical impact of AI on the translation and interpretation profession, another focus of the symposium is reflecting on the nature of translation and interpretation itself. Once again using artists as examples, both photography and painting are forms of expression, but the ultimate goal is to convey emotions. For translators/interpreters and interpreting and translation trainers, the ultimate goal is to facili-tate effective communication across language barriers between speakers and listeners, authors and readers. As AI continues to reshape the industry, it is crucial to reflect on key questions: in different interpreting and translation scenarios, how will AI change the way people communicate? How can translators use technology to cultivate creativity, preserve the human dimen-sion of their work, and find their own value? How can trans-lation and interpreting professionals shape a future empow-ered by AI?
